Promoting Revitalization and Growth of the Sports Industry with the Power of IT
Concepts in "i-enter Sports-Tech Lab"
In recent years, the efforts to revitalize the sports industry as a whole have attracted attention. The expansion of its market and population, as well as the enhancement of the environment are good examples of the engagements.
As an IT company, i-enter is considering whether it is possible to introduce digital transformation (DX) from various angles to the sports industry by utilizing the technologies and knowledge cultivated through research and development of advanced technologies such as IoT, AI, and XR. We are working on the sports tech business in a wide range of fields, such as system development to improve the level of competition and marketing strategies to expand the sports business.
With the desire to deliver i-enter technology to as many companies as possible, we brand our sports tech business as "i-enter Sports-Tech Lab" and support to revitalize and promote the sports industry with the power of IT.

Our Approach
Curling
i-enter has concluded a comprehensive partnership agreement on curling research with Kitami Institute of Technology, Hakodate Future University, University of Electro-Communications, and AIS Hokkaido Inc., thereby contributing to mutual development through industry-academia collaboration. We are working on various things with the aim of developing assistive technologies for curling competitions, developing excellent human resources related to them, and contributing to local communities.
"Image Analysis System" to analyze the movement of players
This system uses posture estimation technology (AI) to analyze the delivery (stone-throwing) form of curling athletes without attaching sensors to their bodies. Two visible light cameras simultaneously record the delivery form, analyze it with AI, detect the skeletal position of each body part, and generate a 3D skeleton. In addition, the time-series change of each skeletal site can be confirmed in a graph.

"Motion Capture System" to visualize how the force is applied with IT
It is a system that measures the sweeping force by the sensors built into the curling brush. Sweeping power is measured by the 6-axis force sensor built into the brush head, recorded by the edge computer mounted on the shaft, and transmitted to a PC via Bluetooth. The measurement results are displayed in a list, and the method of applying sweeping power is displayed in a time-series graph.

"Curling Stone Tracking System" to visualize the trajectory of the throw with IT
It is a system that recognizes the delivered curling stone with 12 cameras installed on the ceiling, measures its positional coordinate, and visualizes the trajectory of the stone. We have also developed our own dedicated stone with built-in infrared LEDs, and we detect infrared rays taken by the ceiling camera by image analysis system and automatically measure the position of the stone.

"VR Curling"
This is an application that you can experience curling in a virtual space faithfully reproduced Argo Graphics Kitami Curling Hall. Players put on VR goggles and operate the steering wheel to throw stones. At the public viewing next to the lane, you can see the trajectory of the thrown stone.

"VR Live Streaming" to provide a new viewing style
This is an application that you can enjoy live-streamed curling match through 360-degree cameras. At the 2017 Karuizawa International Curling Championship, as part of our efforts to enjoy the tournament, with the cooperation of tournament officials, we installed 360-degree cameras at three locations at the match venue and streamed some of the matches via a smartphone app.

- Generating learning models of posture estimation by using virtual space
Creating learning models of posture estimation all at once in the system without manual inputting
In general, to create learning data of posture estimation needs a lot of manual work, therefore it takes time and cost. We have developed a system covered everything from generating learning data to studying from them related to human posture estimation. By using a 3D model and motion data, the system captures the model's movements from various angles in 360 degrees and automatically acquires skeletal information.
